If we receive a call with a request for an interpreter within the next 5 minutes, we will try to accommodate this need, but we cannot guarantee immediate service. Such emergency services, if delivered, also carry an additional rush fee.

An oral translation is called interpretation.  Language Embassy applies the same Translation Quality Standards to the interpretation process.

Interpretation Services

Language Embassy provides on-site and phone interpretation services.  For these projects, Language Embassy provides only interpreters who are native speakers in at least one of the two languages. 

For on-site projects, Language Embassy will send interpreters who can be present in real time at the location of your event or appointment.  This service is more expensive than phone interpretation due to the added expenses of the translator's transportation and accommodations if applicable. 

Phone interpretation is available through Language Embassy in all our supported languages.  At this time, we do not support 3-way calling on our end, so this will have to be arranged at the client's location.  International calling fees are also the responsibility of our clients.   

Interpretation can be performed in a consecutive or simultaneous way. 

 Consecutive interpretation occurs segment by segment as the speaker pauses and allows the interpreter to translate.  This is the most frequently used type of interpretation and the one that best enables the interpreter to maintain accuracy.  We recommend that the interpreter asks the parties involved to deliver one sentence at a time and then to pause for interpretation.  It is permissible for the interpreter to politely interrupt the client to ask for shorter utterances when the information becomes too complex to be retained and then rendered accurately in the target language.   

 Simultaneous interpretation occurs when the interpreter renders the message in the target language at the same time while it is expressed in the source language without pauses and possibly within the same time frame.  This type of interpretation is often performed in upscale business events and at political international summits.  Due to time constraints and the need to keep up with the pace of the speech, interpreters may often shorten or slightly alter the content of the original message when interpreting it, with a particular focus on maintaining the overall meaning.  Such events involve highly trained interpreters and special technology.
